Some of what we've accomplished with your support:

• REDUCED WILDFIRE DANGER IN THE EAST BAY HILLS with our ongoing educational, outreach, and legal efforts.

• PROTECTED YOUR MAGNIFICENT, WILD NEIGHBORHOOD FORESTS from being cut down, or “managed” to death with chainsaws and herbicides.

• FUNDED THREE SUCCESSFUL LAWSUITS and involved in a fourth.  Collectively, these legal victories have made our hills safer in the event of a wildfire by keeping them forested.  READ WHY.  Legal expenses are our greatest expense.  Operational expenses are minimal.   All board members are unpaid.

• INFLUENCED CRUCIAL WILDFIRE AND LAND MANAGEMENT POLICIES via negotiations, discussions, and mediations with numerous public agencies that manage our wildlands, including East Bay Regional Parks (EBRPD), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), The City of Oakland, PG&E, East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD).

• REDUCED TOXIC PESTICIDE USE, HUMAN AND WILDLIFE EXPOSURE TO THEM.  We oppose these poisonous and also unnecessary chemicals.  We continue to educate the public about their rampant use and advocate they be banned.

• EDUCATE AND INFORM THE COMMUNITY on myriad issues related to fire safety, wildlife, forest and human health.

• PROTECTED HOMEOWNER PROPERTY VALUES by keeping houses safer from wildfire, while protecting the forests and wildlands in our backyards. Access to nature is why so many of us moved here and love living here.  We’re privileged and grateful to call this beautiful, unique land our home, and this motivates us to do the work necessary to preserve it.

• KEPT "HANDS-OFF" OUR LOCAL NATURE so it teems with a diversity of tree, plant and animal communities.  Wild places should not be endlessly "managed" with what amount to massive "gardening" projects using chainsaws and herbicides.  Wild nature—wild plants and animals—left undisturbed, benefits everyone in our extended human community in Alameda and Contra Costa counties physically, emotionally and spiritually.
